We are seeking a highly skilled Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team at The Royal Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents with knee conditions, including arthroscopic surgery, ACL reconstruction, and meniscal pathology.
The ideal candidate will have fellowship-trained expertise in paediatric orthopaedic surgery, with a strong focus on knee conditions. They will be skilled in the common surgeries associated with this group of patients and have experience in managing children's knee conditions.
The role involves a sessional commitment to provide direct surgical care of patients and families in specialist clinics and operating theatre settings. The successful candidate will also participate in the education and training of orthopaedic trainees, surgical audit, and research activities of the unit.
In addition, the role requires participation in the exclusive on-call roster for general paediatric orthopaedic emergencies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care for children and adolescents with knee conditions
- Perform arthroscopic surgery, ACL reconstruction, and meniscal pathology
- Manage children's knee conditions, including osteochondritis dissecans and other chondral injury repair
- Participate in the education and training of orthopaedic trainees
- Contribute to surgical audit and research activities of the unit
- Participate in the exclusive on-call roster for general paediatric orthopaedic emergencies
- Current Registration as a Specialist Medical Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Recognised Surgical qualifications with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
- Completion of approved training in Orthopaedic Surgery (AOA or equivalent)
- Completion of approved Fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery with significant knee surgery component
- Experience in management of children's knee conditions
