Job Overview

The City of Boroondara is embarking on a major business transformation, leveraging technology and innovation to deliver customer-centric services through collaborative efforts.

We are seeking an experienced Asset Management Specialist Leader to spearhead the implementation of our new strategic Asset Management Capability Framework.

About the Role

This is a leadership opportunity that involves overseeing a highly skilled technical team responsible for managing large and diverse asset bases across the municipality.

The successful candidate will bring a fresh perspective and possess the ability to influence, challenge, lead, and explore areas within their portfolio while collaborating with teams outside of their specialized area.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement the new strategic Asset Management Capability Framework.
  2. Drive the development of our Capital Works program.
  3. Oversee and plan ahead for large and diverse asset bases, ensuring continued integrated asset management approach and strategic drainage planning.
  4. Lead a highly skilled technical team working in four specialist areas: renewal program development; asset policies and strategies; capital works program reporting; and integrated asset systems/drainage network management.
  5. Collaborate closely with peers in the Senior Leadership Team, actively contributing to discussions through regular leadership forums.

Requirements

  • A leader who listens, responds, and takes decisive action.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to negotiate, constructively challenge, and present ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to digest and comprehend legislative requirements, technical documentation (plans, strategies, policies), and confidently present to various stakeholders.
  • Transferable skills from asset management or related fields.
