This position plays a pivotal role in promoting environmentally conscious practices and ensuring regulatory compliance across various projects.

Main Responsibilities
  • Implement sustainable management systems to minimize environmental impact, adhering to project-specific plans and legal requirements.
  • Participate in strategic planning and risk assessment activities to identify and mitigate environmental threats and opportunities.
  • Promote sustainability initiatives and support their implementation.
  • Monitor construction activities that involve environmental constraints or risks such as erosion control, vegetation clearance, night work, heritage protection, and pollution management.
  • Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of environmental performance against established standards (e.g., noise, vibration, water, and air quality, biodiversity).
Accountabilities
  • Evaluate day-to-day adherence to environmental specifications, regulations, approvals, and other relevant requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and controlling environmental risks and opportunities during project planning and risk assessment.
  • Promote the adoption and implementation of sustainable practices within the organization.
  • Support inspection and monitoring of construction activities linked to environmental constraints or risks, including measures to prevent erosion, sedimentation, and pollution.
  • Conduct routine environmental assessments and monitoring according to defined protocols.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in inspecting and monitoring construction activities with respect to environmental risks.
  • Familiarity with marine ecology would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and related software packages, particularly Excel, is essential.
