About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our team at George Weston Foods Limited. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the payroll process, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate payroll records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide all payroll services in accordance with relevant awards, agreements, and legislative conditions.
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll services for Australia and New Zealand employees.
  • Compute Workers Compensation wages and handle reimbursements as required.
  • Provide support and advice to employees and managers on any payroll queries.
  • Respond and resolve complex payroll enquiries and issues within a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement new processes to streamline the payroll function and develop best practice payroll approaches.
  • Develop the relevant governance framework to ensure employee records are maintained and employees are paid correctly and on time.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports and statements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR & Finance) to optimise payroll processes and foster a positive work environment.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports and support audits as required.
  • Stay updated on legislative requirements and ensure payroll compliance.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 3-5 years' experience in a stand-alone payroll officer role.
  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Strong understanding of Australian and New Zealand payroll regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong administration and time management skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer literacy & Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience using ADP Payroll & Realtime will be an advantage.
  • Experience with Awards and Enterprise Agreement interpretation desirable.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
