Health Support Specialist

A vital role in supporting Australians with their health concerns.

The Healthdirect Helpline relies on skilled professionals like you to provide crucial support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance to callers unsure if they should see a doctor or manage their condition at home.
  • Offer health-related advice over the phone 24/7.
  • Conduct comprehensive telephone assessments and recommend appropriate care.
  • Refer callers to other services such as GP clinics, Urgent Care Clinics, and Virtual Emergency Departments.
Requirements:
  • Unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse for a minimum of 3 years.
  • At least 3 years of full-time (or equivalent) clinical experience within the last 5 years as a Registered Nurse.
  • A varied nursing background involving substantial public contact.
  • Confidence in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A high affinity with using computer systems, including telehealth platforms and digital communication tools.
