We are seeking a Forest Ranger to join our team in Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, authorising and monitoring the delivery of operational activities associated with the sale of native timber products.
The Forest Ranger will work within the Forest Products division and will be part of a team that undertakes tasks such as tree marking and measuring of native timber and forest products, conducting operational tasks in accordance with policy and legislative direction, and liaising with stakeholders including clients and their contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of sale proposals for designated forest products including Operational Harvest Plans.
- Monitor sales of designated forest products including performance, associated planning and the co-ordination of day-to-day operational activities against the sales permit.
- Undertake tree marking and measuring of native timber and forest products (where applicable).
- Conduct operational tasks in accordance with policy, legislative direction, codes of practice and environmental management guidelines.
- Liaise with Forest Products stakeholders including clients and their contractors, other Government agency representatives and members of the public.
- Possession of a current Queensland C Class driver's license or equivalent.
- Proficiency in ArcMap10 GIS and Google Earth or other equivalent spatial mapping programs is an advantage.
- Relevant transferable experience is desirable.
- Existing knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of native forestry operations in Queensland and associated ecological matters.
- Able to travel frequently due to this position requiring regular site visits.
