In this role, you will lead the Development Assessment Team in assessing development applications and providing advice on development proposals and land use matters. You will also carry out regular inspections and regulation of developments.

About the Role

  • Reporting to the Manager Development Assessment, key responsibilities include leading the Development Assessment team and performing regulatory functions as a Local Government Town Planner
  • Processing and assessing development applications efficiently, accurately, and timely to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council Policy
  • Providing advice on emerging planning issues and analyzing local impacts of State legislation and policy changes
  • Liaising with agencies and stakeholders, including State Government agencies, peak groups, and industry associations
  • Providing professional support in preparing documentation for appeal matters or serving as an expert witness

About You

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in town planning
  • Experience in a similar role
  • A valid driver's license
  • Detailed knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act, and related legislation
  • High-level oral and written communication skills
  • Membership of Planning Institute Australia
