Job Title: Network & Security Gateway Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Network & Security Gateway Engineer to join our team at PowerData Group Consulting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise to projects and business areas, and lead the technical deliverables;
  • Undertake a range of activities in support of the management and operation of the Department's secure Internet gateway, secure systems, data centre and network services;
  • Liaise with external and internal service providers as required;
  • Day to day monitoring and support of network and gateway systems including Data Centre technologies, SMTP email systems, SSL Gateways, Load Balancers, Proxy systems, Firewalls and IPS;
  • Implement major/minor project work to support Departmental initiatives;
  • Undertake enhancement and remediation activities across network and gateway systems.
Requirements:Mandatory Requirements:
  • Minimum 3-5 years demonstrated experience as a Network & Security Gateway Engineer;
  • Ability to work within a structured IT governance framework and deliver results that adhere to relevant Commonwealth standards and policies;
  • High level of management skills including the ability to lead and plan to produce high standard of results, on budget and within tight timeframes;
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, both written and verbal with ability to negotiate outcomes as required;
  • Taking ownership of designs and transition plans while engaging with ICT operational teams to coordinate implementation activities, assisting in the resolution of technical issues as they arise;
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism, has sound judgement and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and is highly motivated;
  • Demonstrated analytical background and experience in Agile methodology
Highly Desirable Criteria:
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing IT solutions for large, highly integrated government or similar scale private organisations;
  • Knowledge of Cloud/Security/Automation technologies;
  • A solid understanding of gateway and ICT security technologies
