General Practitioner Rural Medicine Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled General Practitioner to join our team in rural Walgett, NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for a rural generalist GP/VMO to practice rewarding medicine in a welcoming community and vibrant lifestyle.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be working as part of a comprehensive and collaborative rural healthcare system, providing vital GP services to the community while supporting Walgett Multipurpose Service Hospital. You will enjoy the professional variety of general practice and emergency medicine, supported by an excellent practice management team, experienced nurses, and strong collaboration with the hospital staff.

Benefits

  • Full Time Package Valued up to $650,000 per annum
  • General Practice Billings: Average around $2,000 per day
  • On-Call Payments: $2,000 per day, with 161 days rostered annually = $322,000 per year
  • Moratorium Reduction: MM6 location with RA4 scaling benefit, reducing the moratorium period to six years
  • Relocation and Living Support: Includes a car and house valued at approximately $30,000, conveniently located so you can walk to the hospital when on call
  • Flexible Roster Options: Permanent role with structured roster choices — either 2 weeks on/2 weeks off or 3 weeks on/1 week off — designed to support a balanced lifestyle while maintaining continuity of care.

Requirements

We are looking for a Vocationally Registered GP (FRACGP or FACRRM) with recent emergency or VMO experience, genuine interest in rural medicine and Indigenous health, and strong team player skills ready to work within a supportive clinic and hospital environment.
