About the Role

This Senior Manager, ESG Reporting & Policy position plays a pivotal role in shaping Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited's (ANZ) approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting. As a key member of the ANZ team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with both voluntary and mandatory reporting obligations, effectively communicating the bank's ESG performance and risk management practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Drive and oversee the production of ESG and Modern Slavery reports, focusing on Social and Governance pillars, ensuring compliance with both voluntary and mandatory standards.
  2. Engage and direct inputs from various ANZ functions and business units, including Suncorp Bank and New Zealand, providing guidance and constructive challenge.
  3. Review and approve content, liaising with ANZ functions and business units on feedback from executive management and Board.
  4. Ensure consistency of ESG reporting inputs into materials for Finance, Investor Relations, and Corporate Governance teams and monitor and report performance against the bank's ESG targets.
  5. Collaborate closely with Group Finance and the Lead, ESG Reporting and Policy to develop ESG reporting policies and enhance the ESG governance control framework.
  6. Advise senior management on ESG reporting matters, draft papers for the Board and executive management and review and oversee responses to ESG disclosure enquiries.
  7. Oversee governance of ESG rating agency responses and engagement.
  8. Provide strategic advice and tactical support to business stakeholders and the broader ESG disclosures team.
  9. Monitor developments in new and evolving ESG reporting frameworks, assessing their impact on ANZ.
  10. Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of national and international ESG reporting and accounting frameworks, excellent analytical, writing, and communications skills, as well as experience managing project and stakeholder plans and schedules. A genuine people leader who takes an always learning and hands-on approach, with the ability to lead through change, is essential for this role.
