Job Description

A role in a student accommodation provider is currently available, requiring the skills of an experienced handyman.

This position will require you to have the physical ability to move and relocate soft furnishings around the property, as well as work across a portfolio of properties in Brisbane.

You will need to be flexible with your availability and willing to assist with major emergency issues after hours if called upon.

Effective communication skills are key in this role as our staff and residents come from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the upkeep of student apartments, common areas and building exteriors, ensuring all facilities are functioning correctly.
  • General maintenance - checking lighting, performing minor repairs such as painting and plastering, and undertaking carpentry and plumbing tasks throughout the building.
  • Work within established procedures to maximise operational efficiency and maintain the highest level of maintenance, safety and security at all times.
  • Operate within agreed company health and safety procedures and follow industry and statutory regulations.
  • Advise on necessary work for external contractors and ensure approvals are obtained.
  • Provide assistance in a professional and efficient manner to residents and visitors.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff and contractors.
  • Establish positive working relationships with contractors.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Hold valid work rights in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Obtain a National Police Check.
  • Possess a Working with Children Check.
  • Hold a valid Australian driver's license and possess a reliable vehicle.
