About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technical Officer to join our team at RMIT University. The successful candidate will provide technical support and services to staff, students, and partners, contributing to the achievement of teaching and commercial objectives within the College of Vocational Education.

The Technical Officer will oversee the maintenance of technical facilities, ensuring they meet the highest industry and educational standards. This role will involve working across a diverse range of activities, equipment, and processes within the laboratory facilities.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Proven technical knowledge of chemistry to support the Social Care and Health Cluster Science courses.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining technical Laboratories, clinical spaces and chemical storage and handling, or equivalent industry experience, including coordinating maintenance of equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of HSW and OHS legislation and regulations (use, storage, handling). Particularly in regard to technical Laboratories, chemical store and clinical environments.
  • High level communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver flexible solutions to technical problems, preferably within an educational context in the field of Chemistry and General Science.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and initiative, by working independently and with limited direction, as well as effectively within a dynamic team environment with multiple and conflicting priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to use information, communication and purchasing platforms effectively, including Microsoft Office software packages, web and email software.

Salary Information

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $83,000-$100,000 AUD, depending on qualifications and experience.
