About the Role:We are seeking a skilled Legal Claims Advisor/Paralegal to join our Workers Compensation team. As a self-insured employer in Queensland, we require your expertise in personal injury claims to manage common law claims effectively.
Key Responsibilities:- Determine and gather information needed to manage common law claims.
- Decide common law claims in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Prepare for court matters, collate briefs to counsel, draft various documents, and make arrangements for conferences.
- Liaise with internal and external parties to source relevant evidence.
- Ensure claim outcomes meet company objectives and are cost-effective.
- Perform related administrative duties, including processing invoices, data entry, and file management.
- Stay up-to-date with case law and precedents affecting claims and the scheme.
- Provide practical technical advice on strategic management, both generally and in relation to specific claims.
- Assist with advice and/or drafting of legal notices and correspondence.
- Perform associated duties as required, working as an integral member of the Workers Compensation Department.
- Previous experience in personal injury claims with a knowledge of Workers Compensation claims.
- Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook, with confidence in learning new technology.
- Strong customer service focus with a proven ability to respond calmly to difficult conversations.
- Strong time management skills with a proven ability to organize your workload to meet competing deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate keyboarding skills.
