Senior Policy Advisor

The role of a Senior Legal Policy Officer involves developing and implementing legal policy proposals and initiatives within the Attorney-General's reform program.
You will provide considered, informed, and authoritative advice to senior managers, senior executives, and government on key policy and legislation issues and system reform issues.
- Developing and implementing legal policy proposals and initiatives
- Providing considered, informed, and authoritative advice on key policy and legislation issues and system reform issues
- Engaging, consulting, and working collaboratively with partners across the department, across government, and the broader justice system
This includes coordinating, developing, implementing, reviewing, and reforming policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio.
Your work will involve collaborating with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic, and people-centred.
Key Responsibilities- Legal policy and/or relevant criminal legal practice experience
- Ability to analyse complex policy and/or legal issues, interpret legislation, and provide accurate legal solutions
- Resilience, flexibility, and adaptability to changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally
- Ability to understand and take into account the priorities of various groups and individuals when developing options for responding to policy problems
A relevant tertiary qualification in Law is required for this position.
