Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Western Australia. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and managing design projects, performing and verifying designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, and ensuring designs are compliant with relevant Australian Standards and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Project Leadership: Lead and manage design projects, including preparation of design plans, task and job lists, and documentation to track project progress.
  2. Design Verification: Perform and verify designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, First Principles calculations, and/or current best practice Engineering methods.
  3. Design Compliance: Ensure designs are compliant with relevant Australian Standards, statutory requirements, client specifications, and Safety in Design philosophy.
  4. Process Enhancement: Enhance Engineering processes and procedures.
  5. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor team members towards peak performance.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: 7+ years of demonstrable experience in a Mechanical Engineering Design role.
  2. Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and mentoring skills.
  3. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation.
  4. Industry Experience: Relevant experience in the Mining and Resource industry.
  5. Design Skills: Good Mechanical Engineering Design skills.
  6. Software Skills: Competence in performing FEA calculations and validation using ANSYS, Nastran, and/or Strand7 software packages.
  7. Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated initiative in solving challenging problems.
  8. Time Management: The ability to meet deadlines and respond well to a changing work environment.
