Senior Visual Effects Artist Job

A seasoned and independent Senior FX Artist is capable of developing complex multi-layered setups across numerous shots while maintaining flexibility to respond to supervisor or client feedback.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, both technical and creative, and be flexible and open to feedback with a proactive approach to problem-solving and adapting to changes.

The role involves collaborating closely with other departments to ensure high-quality shot delivery, designing and creating FX imagery, procedural elements, tools, and pipelines, and working within the FX team to conceptualize and implement creative design solutions.

To succeed in this role, you should have relevant degree or diploma in visual effects or computer graphics, or equivalent professional experience, and at least 5 years of experience in a film VFX pipeline.

You should also have high proficiency in Houdini, strong understanding of FX simulation techniques and procedural animation workflows, and familiarity with render engines such as Karma, Arnold, or Renderman.

  • Developing procedural and simulation-based FX.
  • Applying lighting and shaders to FX elements for final rendering or handing off simulations to the Lighting department.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining clear and consistent communication with production and leads on schedules and deadlines, and for submitting work for review and making revisions as needed based on notes.

This position requires a proactive and flexible individual who can work well under pressure and meet deadlines. You should be able to demonstrate a strong portfolio that showcases your skills and experience in visual effects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing Procedural and Simulation-Based FX: Create complex FX using procedural techniques and simulate realistic movements and behaviors.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Relevant Degree or Diploma: A degree or diploma in visual effects or computer graphics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a film VFX pipeline.
  • Houdini Proficiency: High proficiency in Houdini.
  • FX Simulation Techniques: Strong understanding of FX simulation techniques and procedural animation workflows.
  • Render Engines: Familiarity with render engines such as Karma, Arnold, or Renderman.
