Finance Officer Position

The Financial Controls Branch is seeking a skilled Finance Officer to join their reporting team on a 12-month assignment. The role can be based in Geelong or Richmond and involves working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

This position requires the ability to undertake day-to-day analytical work and project management on various tasks including regular one-off analyses and ad-hoc requests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake Excel data model work to load, cleanse, and transform data.
  • Contribute to the development of reporting, assisting in the establishment of quality assurance and governance processes.
  • Analyse data, interpret trends, utilise problem-solving skills, and connect analysis and insights to address problems.
  • Present outcomes of work to senior management and other stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate advanced MS Excel skills (charting, manipulation, and pivot tables).
  • Previous experience in financial reporting or working with financial information.
  • Highly developed skills in data analysis and report development.
  • Able to interpret and transform data into information.
  • Experience working with SAP or experience in a Federal Government finance environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Desirable skills include experience in SAS Enterprise Guide (including coding with SAS and SQL) and/or experience with programming languages such as R, Python, etc.
