Clinical Liaison Psychiatrist

The Consultant Psychiatrist Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry will be accountable for delivering high-quality clinical services to consumers of St. Vincent's Mental Health and St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. This includes providing clinical services, contributing to service evaluation and research, and displaying a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development in psychiatry.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and treatment of referred consumers and organisation of psychiatric follow-up as required.
- Secondary consultation and provision of information to general hospital staff about psychiatric disorders, treatments, mental health services, the Mental Health Act, and advice on the management of difficult/complex behaviours.
- Support and monitoring of St. Vincent's Mental Health consumers who require admission for medical/surgical treatment.
- Education of staff on mental health-related issues.
- Participation in mental health-related projects, policy development, and research.
- Promotion of liaison with relevant acute health, community, and inpatient services, Mental Health Community Support Services, private psychiatrists, and general practitioners.
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent.
- Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
- Registration with AHPRA.
- Advanced Training Certificate in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
- Current National criminal history check, or willingness to obtain.
