Senior Mechanical Engineer - Capital Projects

Boral Constr Mat Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Capital Projects Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide engineering services to support the delivery of major capital projects across our construction materials portfolio.

Your primary responsibilities will include investigating, designing, and providing effective engineering support to project managers. You will work closely with the Principal Mechanical Engineer to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in process equipment, handling systems, and operating conditions. You will also have experience in design for industrial investment projects and knowledge of equipment/service costs, material handling for capital project estimation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Investigate and analyze problems to prepare conceptual solutions for major projects
  • Estimate, evaluate, and design engineering scope, as well as monitor and report on progress
  • Sizing of process equipment, including material handling and logistics concepts for transport, storage, and production capacity
  • Site investigation and definition of necessary measures in coordination with plant responsible for process requirements
  • Preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents and evaluation of technical tenders
  • Project management for studies and investments focused on design aspects for project scope
  • Assessment and approval of drawings from internal and external sources

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering with demonstrated experience in a heavy industrial site
  • Experience of process equipment, handling systems, and operating conditions
  • Experience in design for industrial investment projects and knowledge of equipment/service costs, material handling for capital project estimation
  • Experience in development of CFT documents
  • Experience with the use of design software (AUTOCAD, INVENTOR, Microsoft Project)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and commission industrial mechanical projects, resolve engineering issues, and provide mechanical technical support to others delivering the implementation of the project
