About the Opportunity

The University of New South Wales is seeking a highly skilled Technical Officer to join our Infrastructure Laboratories team.

This full-time, fixed-term position will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of laboratory equipment and services. The successful candidate will provide technical support for research and teaching projects, operating, maintaining, and repairing testing equipment and facilities according to specifications and health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure daily operations run smoothly and safely, with minimal disruptions
  • Maintain and repair laboratory equipment and facilities as needed
  • Provide expert advice on technical matters related to laboratory operations
  • Collaborate with staff and students to achieve project goals and objectives
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and organized individual to join our dynamic team. As a Technical Officer, you will work closely with colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of research and teaching programs.

We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate Diploma or Degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with laboratory equipment and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of physical fitness, with ability to lift heavy objects
