Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Public Relations Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial Operations & Partnerships Department, you will be responsible for generating favourable publicity for the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) Foundation community partnerships, and the Australian Sports Museum through various media channels.

Your primary goal will be to oversee the development and implementation of effective publicity campaigns that showcase the MCG's operations, including its hosting of over 70 major events annually and attracting more than three million visitors. You will work closely with the Executive Manager (EM) - Corporate Affairs, Marketing & Community to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing communications and PR support for tourism, sustainability, facilities, membership, community partnerships, Reconciliation Action Plan, Diversity and Inclusion, sponsorship, and hospitality.
  • Coordinating and delivering engaging publicity campaigns for owned and earned channels.
  • Preparing and distributing media releases and statements.
  • Liaising with organisational spokespeople for comment and assisting with media enquiries.
  • Supporting senior personnel with speech writing as required.
  • Maintaining Language and Grammar Style Guidelines.
  • Ensuring all fact sheets are current and regularly updated, as well as generic promotional copies are written aligned to brand guidelines.
  • Assisting with Government requests and matters.
  • Collaborating on collaborative announcements with MCC stakeholders and partners.
  • Facilitating media familiarisation visits.
  • Working with the Digital Communications team to ensure alignment of all external communications.
  • Creating copywriting for internal and external publications produced by the Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Community team.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive list of media contacts in an online system.
  • Researching, writing, and submitting award submissions on behalf of MCC, MCG, and the Australian Sports Museum.
  • Utilizing media monitoring methods and reporting on publicity activities.
  • Providing regular reports on achievements and results of activities and projects.
  • Gaining knowledge of MCC and MCG operations, including the Australian Sports Museum.
  • Awareness of current-day issues affecting both the club and the stadium.
