Senior Financial Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the development and implementation of our financial control and compliance framework.
About the Role:
- To lead teams and develop staff capabilities to establish internal financial control frameworks for statutory obligations and internal policies.
- To oversee financial reporting, governance, risk management, tax compliance, policy development, and process optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Development: Develop and implement UNSW's financial control and compliance framework.
- Strategic Advice: Provide strategic financial advice to senior leaders and influence policy stances across the sector.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with assurance functions and external bodies to ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant guidance.
- Reporting: Oversee financial reporting, governance, risk management, tax compliance, policy development, and process optimisation.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification and CA or CPA designation with substantial experience in multi-faceted financial/statutory accounting in a large/complex organisation.
- Significant experience in planning and managing statutory audits in large/complex organisations.
- Extensive experience developing and implementing internal financial control frameworks and internal fiscal policies.
- Experience developing and implementing systems and processes for local and international tax compliance.
