Job Description:

The company SPC, a renowned Australian food manufacturer, is seeking an exceptional Director of Product Innovation to drive business growth through innovative product development and market expansion.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading the innovation pipeline, focusing on accessible market opportunities that reinforce SPC's positioning in the FMCG sector. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including consumer insights, product development, and commercialisation, to ensure that each launch meets consumer demands and strengthens SPC's portfolio.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Foster a culture of innovation by leading cross-functional teams and instilling accountability.
  • Develop and deliver the Innovation Governance Process, including all steps involved from ideation to innovation delivery and post-launch review.
  • Owning the entire innovation process, from ideation to market, ensuring that the pipeline remains strong, relevant, and financially viable.
  • Drive the new product development (NPD) process, applying the stage-gate model to streamline and control project timelines, costs, and product quality.
  • Commit to safe work procedures and lead safe work behaviours, demonstrating and supporting SPC's values and behaviours within the work environment.
  • Use data and consumer insights to identify and target growth opportunities within existing and new categories, aligning SPC's products with evolving consumer needs and market trends.
  • Focus on understanding and responding to market trends and consumer needs, particularly in functional foods, such as SPC Provital.
  • Engage with existing grocery partners and expand relationships with distribution channels, especially in healthcare and aged care facilities.
  • Evaluate new products to ensure alignment with SPC's sustainability goals, maintaining ethical sourcing and production practices.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in FMCG product, category, and governance innovation.
  • Proven track record of successful innovation projects, inclusive of processes, policies, and tools.
  • Ability to balance consumer insights with market trends and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of trust, and driving high-impact projects through effective innovation governance.
  • Strong understanding of the NPD and stage-gate processes, with a keen eye for efficient process improvement and commercialisation strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the grocery and food service channels, especially within the Australian FMCG landscape.
