Flourish Australia invites applications for Mental Health Workers and Peer Workers to join our Tamworth teams.

The positions available are:

  • Full-time, part-time, and casual opportunities
  • Based in Tamworth, working in outreach and accommodation settings
  • Rotating roster including weekend, evening, and night shifts
  • Attractive hourly rates, $37.35-$40.05/hour, plus Super and Tax-Free Salary Packaging

About the Opportunities

As a Mental Health Worker or Peer Worker, you will support individuals accessing our services who have lived experiences of mental health issues to achieve their goals and aspirations.

You will play a vital role in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their hopes by:

  • Engaging in meaningful conversations and creating opportunities that meet individual interests and goals
  • Encouraging shared learning experiences and supporting skill development through self-directed learning, information, and education
  • Providing individualised support that meets the recovery journey goals of each person, focusing on strengths-based approaches led by the individual wherever possible
  • Being hands-on and involved in direct service delivery

We value lived experience and believe peer support is a powerful part of the mental health recovery journey.

Therefore, our Peer Worker roles are designed for those willing to use their lived experience and personal recovery to mentor people with lived experiences of mental health issues.

You will use your lived experience to inform and contribute to staff learning, service understanding, and delivering person-led, strengths-focused, recovery-based services.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR 2 years of full-time experience in the human services sector (recognised by Flourish Australia)
  • A strong commitment to recovery-based practice
  • A personal lived experience of mental health issues and recovery
  • Understanding of challenges faced by individuals with lived experiences of mental health issues
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data information management systems
  • A current Australian driver's licence
