About the Role

The Senior AOD Clinician works within a multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic interventions supporting individuals in reaching/exceeding their goals. These interventions include individual case management and counselling, group therapy, and psychoeducation.

You will work closely with the Team Leader Clinical to implement programs based on clinical best practice within our Therapeutic Community (TC). Your role will support all staff in fostering the TC process of mutual self-help to guide residents through a process of self-discovery and change.

We require a tertiary qualification in addictive behaviors/AOD, health, welfare, behavioral, or social sciences, and a minimum of 3 years' experience within the AOD sector. Compliance with the AOD Workforce Minimum Qualification Strategy or willingness to undertake minimum required study within the first 12 months of employment is necessary.

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in addictive behaviors, counselling, social work, or similar, and a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the AOD sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with people who experience issues relating to their use of alcohol and/or other drugs, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Strong theoretical and practical understanding of relapse prevention.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an AOD residential rehabilitation setting.
  • Maintains hope and role models a positive outlook even during challenging times.
  • Ability to establish respectful professional relationships with clear boundaries.
