Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled 2D character artist to bring our visual novel, Ladies of Newport, to life.

The game is set in the 1920s and follows the story of an American Navy operation aimed at weeding out homosexual sailors through seduction.

Inspired by actual oral history, the story explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, written by our developer.

Our project caters specifically to Queer gamers, and this title delves into the gritty past of homophobia to celebrate love transcending gender.

We need an artist to create characters in a painterly style evoking the feeling of the 1920s, with bold shapes and strong contours to emphasize human features. JC Leyendecker's artwork serves as our reference, but we're open to other styles.

The goal is to establish the aesthetic for the entire project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create half-body colored portraits of main characters.
  • Develop a detailed description and mood board for each character.

Requirements:

  • Experience in creating 2D characters in a painterly style.
  • Familiarity with traditional art techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
