About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and professional Health and Safety Project Officer to promote and maintain a health and safety culture for all employees at the Autism Association.

The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to the Health and Safety team, facilitating a safe working environment for employees through the continuous improvement of the existing Health and Safety framework.

This role involves building effective relationships and liaising with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify solutions, and engage stakeholders throughout the project process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and monitor WHS projects, initiatives, improvements, milestones, and timeframes
  • Monitor the WHS Service Desk Inbox and respond to queries via email and telephone
  • Verify reportable WHS data to ensure accuracy for compilation of WHS reporting
  • Facilitate the WHS Management System document review and control process
  • Record, prepare, and distribute WHS committee meeting minutes and monitor actions
  • Assist with the coordination of WHS Management system audits
  • Contribute to the development of relevant WHS training material
  • Maintain Emergency Response requirements at facilities including plans and diagrams
  • Assist with Workers Compensation and Injury Management processes
  • Provide general support across the Health and Safety team as required
About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • 2 years' experience in a similar Health and Safety role
  • Relevant knowledge of WHS legislation and practices related to Health and Safety
  • Understanding of the principles of a Health and Safety Management System
  • Understanding of WHS performance reporting requirements, including injury management
  • Previous experience in Workers Compensation and Injury Management
  • Previous experience in the disability sector
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Motivated to deliver a high standard of customer service
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
