Family Therapy Specialist

This position is situated within a therapeutic residential care program, which provides intensive and time-limited care for vulnerable children and families. The goal of this care is to create positive, safe, healing relationships and experiences that address the complex impacts of trauma, attachment, and developmental needs.
Salary and Job Description
This is an ongoing part-time opportunity with 11.4 hours per week. As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will provide therapeutic leadership and trauma-informed interventions based on sound practice expertise and contemporary research. Your role will be to deliver positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families within the program.
The Therapeutic Specialist reports to the Principal Practitioner and is a member of the Clinical Program. This role requires collaboration with other team members to achieve the goals of the program.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, as well as awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, with a higher degree in psychology at master's level preferred.
- Post-graduate training in relevant child, adolescent, and family clinical practice, family therapy, and systemic thinking strongly preferred.
