Project Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to join our Mining and Metals Project team in Karratha, Western Australia. This is a FIFO role working a 2:1 roster based in Karratha, WA.
Job Summary:
As a Cost Engineer, you will be responsible for cost control and analysis activities, including identifying and preparing cost studies, reviewing cost trends, cost and commitment tracking, and developing and implementing project requirements for cost control. Your detailed analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Coordinate the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports.
- Develop and accuracy of cost reports.
- Verify consistency with previous reports to ensure compatibility and consistency.
- Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
- Investigate the requirements for estimating and/or cost control data.
- Collect and classify cost data.
- Perform budget allocation and reporting/cost control regime for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines.
- Identify cost trends for management attention.
- Prepare cost studies using historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field with solid project controls or cost-related work experience.
- Preferential will be in field experience across either EPCM and/or EPC execution models on major, complex projects.
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient planning and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, which include cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency with PC operating systems, with proficiency in several basic software applications.
- Proficiency with multiple discipline-specific software applications currently used in Bechtel.
- Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
- Ability to interact effectively with colleagues in many different disciplines.
