Position Overview

As a Senior Network Security Engineer within our Network Engineering division, you will be instrumental in designing and upholding the security framework of our worldwide production network infrastructure. You will collaborate with various Security and Network Engineering teams to develop, implement, and oversee sophisticated security protocols that safeguard our cloud and physical network environments. This position demands extensive expertise in network security concepts and hands-on experience with a variety of security technologies. Your contributions will be crucial in identifying and mitigating potential risks, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our network systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation:
    • Architect and establish secure firewall configurations and DDoS mitigation strategies across our network.
    • Design and manage internal and customer VPNs, following best practices and security protocols.
    • Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive information and assets.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance:
    • Continuously monitor network security to detect potential threats and respond to security incidents.
    • Collaborate with Network Engineering and other teams to ensure prompt incident response and resolution.
    • Conduct regular security audits and assessments to gauge the effectiveness of our security measures.
  • Collaboration & Partnership:
    • Engage with stakeholders to assess risks and formulate proactive mitigation strategies.
    • Participate in on-call rotations and change management processes to ensure seamless operations.
    • Assist Network Engineering teams with software updates and device maintenance, with a focus on security implications.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of network security configurations and procedures.
    • Provide clear and concise reports on security incidents and risk evaluations as necessary.

Qualifications

Note: This role requires Australian Baseline Security Clearance. Candidates must be willing to undergo and successfully complete the adjudication process.

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • Experience:
    • Over 8 years of practical experience with network security technologies, including Next Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), Intrusion Detection & Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), DDoS mitigation solutions, and VPN gateways.
    • Solid understanding and recent experience with network technologies such as Load Balancing, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, ISIS, and SNMP.
    • Extensive hands-on experience with TCP/IP (packet headers, protocol inner workings, both IPv4 and IPv6).
    • Expertise in PAN-OS, JunOS, Fortinet, and Cisco Nexus operating systems.
  • Skills:
    • Strong coordination and troubleshooting abilities, especially in managing complex network security incidents.
    • Experience with both physical and cloud-based data centers (Microsoft Azure, AWS, and GCP).
    • Excellent knowledge of Linux; Linux administration experience is advantageous.
    • Proficiency in network troubleshooting and monitoring tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with network automation tools and languages such as Ansible, Python, and Terraform.
    • Knowledge of Netscout, Arbor, Corero, and Illumio.
