About the Role

The Carer Peer Support Worker will have a lived or living experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone with mental health and/or substance use challenges. This role requires a strong understanding of the experiences of carers and the ability to provide emotional, social, spiritual and physical support to those accessing the Hume Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support to carers who access the Hume Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect centre
  • Form relationships based on mutuality, respect and understanding of the experience of caring
  • Support carers to access resources and services that meet their needs
  • Work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to maintain skills and knowledge
About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual who has a lived or living experience of supporting someone with mental health and/or substance use challenges. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

You will also have a Certificate IV in peer support or mental health, and be willing to complete Intentional Peer Support Training. If you are passionate about providing solutions to support carers, we encourage you to apply.
