Youth Worker Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Worker to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and educational needs of students.

As a Youth Worker, your primary responsibility will be to provide individualized support to students, promoting their well-being and academic success. This may involve developing and implementing tailored programs, engaging with students in a positive and non-judgmental manner, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless communication and care.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Providing guidance and support to students on an individual basis, addressing specific needs and concerns as they arise.
  • Developing and delivering engaging and relevant programs that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Establishing strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, fostering a culture of trust, respect, and open communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A degree or diploma in Social Work, Youth Work, or a related field (or working towards a qualification).
  • Previous experience in the youth sector, with a focus on working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • A valid Working with Children Check and current Working Rights for Australia.
