Our clinical haematology unit is a leading academic research organization that provides high-quality haematology care to a population of approximately 1.3 million, making it one of the largest services in Australia.

Key leadership areas in clinical care and research include:

  • Lymphoma and CLL
  • Acute Leukaemia and Myelodysplastic Syndromes
  • Venous thromboembolic disease
  • Haemoglobinopathy
  • Obstetric Haematology
  • Transfusion medicine

The unit has active collaborations with several research organisations including Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Children's Oncology Group (COG).

Role Description

As a consultant haematologist, you will participate in our specialist consulting clinics, managing patients and providing high-quality outpatient and inpatient services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising registrars in outpatient clinics
  • Supporting and assisting unit heads in Clinical Haematology & Laboratory Haematology
  • Providing clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care
  • Being available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison regarding patient care
  • Contributing to ongoing service improvement and clinical innovation

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • MBBS
  • FRACP
  • FRCPA (desirable)
  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
  • A Working with Children's Certificate
  • Membership with relevant professional associations
