An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Engineer to join Ventia's Telecommunications Sector in Brisbane. This permanent role offers hybrid working conditions with monthly travel requirements within QLD.

About the Role

This is a leadership position that involves forecasting, planning, managing, and reporting on the current and future Program of Works, along with its associated budget and costs. The successful candidate will also support the Construction Team in delivering construction works efficiently to ensure optimal profitability for the project.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Safety and Environment - Promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to, management of risks and incidents, toolbox discussions, and endorsing corporate initiatives
  • Programme and resource management - Forecasting and planning detailed construction works in accordance with the Program of Work, creating project plans and schedules, managing BOQs, financial contract sums, subcontractors, traffic management, LAAN access notices, variations, CARs, etc.
  • Finance - Ensuring BOQ items are ordered in a timely manner to meet construction schedules, reviewing variations, developing forecasted costs, validating expenditure against budget, financial forecasting, etc.
  • Quality and contract management - Being fully conversant with the contract, reviewing KPIs and lead indicators, analyzing results, facilitating, and developing improvement initiatives
  • Leadership - Leading a team of project engineers and engineers, fostering a team culture of ownership and excellence, providing mentorship and guidance
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Engineering (Civil or related)
  • Project Management qualifications (PMBOK / PMP / Prince 2)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience carrying out large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
  • Cost management and finance principles
  • Knowledge of commercial management
