Our three world-class green supercomputer clusters operate a diverse suite of scientific applications, driven by a multidisciplinary team of mathematicians, geophysicists, and software engineers. They design, develop, and maintain signal-processing and subsurface imaging tools.

We seek highly skilled low-level developers who can leverage their expertise in C/C++/Python/Java to tackle new scientific challenges. Our mixed-language environment utilises CPUs (Intel Xeon Phi and AVX-512) and GPUs (via CUDA). You will apply your experience to decide when C is the best choice, when hand-vectorisation is worth it, and when it's not.

Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing high-level scientific processing software
  • Writing, testing, optimising, and maintaining software in the most suitable language for each task (Java, C/C++, and Python)
  • Maintaining software developed by other team members
  • Becoming proficient in problem domains of new and existing products
  • Providing technical support for unresolved customer issues as a 3rd-line specialist
  • Offering and receiving constructive feedback within the team
  • Collaborating on priority scheduling for rapid product iterations
  • Mentoring junior developers or interns
Requirements:
  • Demonstrable expert-level skills in software development using C or C++; Java or Python expertise is also valuable
  • Able to discuss low-level performance optimisation concepts such as threading, concurrency, vectorisation, memory alignment, loop unrolling, etc.
  • A history of advanced work in areas like data management, large I/O, highly-parallel computing, or numerical processing; we value relevant experience over specific industry knowledge
  • Excellent written and spoken English for effective communication with clients
