Job Summary:

The Workshop Technician position is a critical role within our organization, responsible for carrying out service and repairs to customer and company-owned Elevating Work Platforms, telehandlers, and lighting towers in the workshop and in the field when requested.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the performance of equipment to ensure optimal functionality and efficiency.
  • Inspect designs and finished products for compliance with specifications, ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • Install, test, service, repair, and modify electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment and machines, including hydraulic hoses, small diesel engines, and other types of equipment as needed.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections and assess machines to ensure they are in good working order, meeting the required standards.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on customer and Oshkosh-owned elevating work platforms and telehandlers, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of apprentices, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Adhere to specific site instructions, including Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental policies, to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, ensuring all tools used are in good working order, and complete all necessary paperwork and inspection forms as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machines in accordance with Oshkosh and industry standards, ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings and toolbox talks, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Meet personal retail labor utilization rates as per target, contributing to the team's overall performance.
  • Generate sales and service leads where possible, collaborating with the team to drive business growth.
  • Perform general ad-hoc duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical expertise highly advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills, including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals, and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers, and quantities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a collaborative and flexible approach.
