As part of our team, you will be working at a tertiary referral centre where adult surgical specialties are performed. This provides an opportunity for professional growth and development in a fast-paced environment.

The Perioperative Medicine fellowship is a year-long program designed to equip participants with the skills required to provide optimal care for high-risk patients undergoing surgery. You will work closely with experienced clinicians to risk assess and optimise patient care.

**Key Objectives:**

  • Deliver high-quality perioperative care to patients undergoing major surgery.
  • Evaluate health risks and implement effective public health strategies.
  • Develop and refine perioperative care pathways to improve patient outcomes.

**Structure and Responsibilities:**

  • You will participate regularly in Pre-admission Clinics, anaesthesia consultations and ward rounds.
  • You will collaborate with perioperative coordinators, medical units and senior staff to identify high-risk surgical patients.

**Education and Professional Development:**

You will have the opportunity to engage in undergraduate and postgraduate education through Monash University's Perioperative Medicine Short Course and Masters Courses. You will also participate in journal club review of perioperative-specific articles and supervise junior trainees in theatre.

**Research and Quality Improvement:**

You will have the opportunity to conduct research and/or quality improvement projects related to perioperative anaesthesia and present at departmental meetings.
