Power System Connections Specialist

As a Senior Grid Connection Engineer, you will play a leading role in enabling cutting-edge renewables and transmission projects. This is a chance to be part of a dynamic environment that rewards initiative and integrity.

• Project Leadership: Oversee and deliver comprehensive grid connection services, including feasibility and planning studies, for both transmission and renewable generation projects.
• Technical Modelling: Lead RMS and EMT model development, ensuring all work meets AEMO's technical and modelling standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Drive negotiations and productive relationships with clients, AEMO, TNSPs, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high standards of professionalism and collaborative problem-solving.
• Compliance & Approvals: Prepare all technical documentation, including GPS compliance, R1/R2 reports, and connection applications, maintaining strict adherence to Australian standards and regulatory requirements.
• Team Mentorship: Provide peer review, quality assurance, and mentoring for graduate and junior engineers, supporting professional growth and capability within the team.
• Cross-functional Support: Participate in design, technical advisory, commissioning, and project management services as needed to ensure end-to-end delivery excellence.

• Technical Expertise: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (post-graduate in Power Systems highly regarded). Proven experience with PSSE, PSCAD, and PowerFactory for power system analysis and modelling. In-depth understanding of RMS/EMT modelling and compliance to AEMO guidelines.
• Project Experience: Track record in delivering grid connection studies, GPS compliance, and technical documentation for transmission/distribution and renewable projects.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian grid connection processes, network rules, AEMO regulations, and stakeholder frameworks applicable to the Melbourne market.
• Soft Skills: Leadership, effective mentorship, a collaborative mindset, strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify complex project issues, develop effective solutions, and proactively seek guidance when needed.
• Professional Membership: Membership with Engineers Australia is highly regarded or a willingness to apply.
