Job Title: Commercial Counsel

Marsh McLennan is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Counsel to join our team in Sydney or Melbourne. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert and commercial legal advice to our clients, suppliers, and the insurance market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and professional legal advice to all aspects of the Marsh & Mercer Australia businesses
  • Work on contracts with clients, suppliers, and the insurance market
  • Develop and implement industry-specific materials, such as binding authorities and distributor agreements
  • Analysis of and advice on new and/or changing laws and regulations
  • Identify liability exposure and provide solutions to manage and reduce risk to Marsh & Mercer
  • Effective management of outside counsel and review of outside counsel work product
  • Provide supervision and development to junior team members
  • Liaison between the legal team and the rest of the corporate group
  • Assist in producing reports, manuals, and presentations
Requirements:
  • Pro-active and highly organized
  • Ability to work autonomously and accurately to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of writing and communication skills
  • Ability to draft and edit concisely
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
