About the Role

Cement Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for coordinating the purchasing requirements for our operating sites, ensuring the timely supply of goods and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and manage the end-to-end process of purchase orders from placement to payment.
  • Follow up on expedites, backorders, and update SAP records to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage the centralized inbox, allocating tasks to other procurement team members as needed.
  • Coordinate the RFQ process, updating procurement records and vendor information to ensure quotes are within policy guidelines.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to drive value for money and improve procurement processes.
  • Work closely with category managers to establish new contracts and maintain existing ones for goods and services.
  • Support shutdown activities by coordinating purchasing, planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Manage invoices to facilitate timely payment of suppliers' invoices.
  • Coordinate overseas purchases, including freight quotes and tracking delivery.
  • Drive process improvements, standardize procedures, and provide training to team members.
  • Provide backup support to other team members as needed.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar procurement role.
  • SAP purchasing experience or other procurement ERP systems.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with vendor management skills a plus.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills with external vendors.
  • Ability to drive process improvement within the organization.
  • Competent in running site meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of BI (Business Objects) reporting.
  • Positive and engaging attitude.
  • Values based on honesty and a high work ethic committed to getting the job done.
  • A good understanding of international freight would be a plus.
