About the Role

The Government of South Australia is seeking a highly skilled Principal Financial Analyst to join the Department of State Development. As a key member of the Finance and Investment Services team, you will play a critical role in driving the development of budget strategy, providing financial advice, and ensuring the effective management of public funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement complex financial analysis and advisory programs and services, partnering with business and project staff to provide expert advice on business case development, funding requests, project management, grant management, risk management, and financial management.
  • Utilize a range of financial analysis techniques, models, and evaluation processes to identify, address, and report on risks to inform planning and risk management.
  • Provide comprehensive and contemporary financial analysis and advice to support business and project stakeholders, including the development of financial models, forecasts, and reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize financial initiatives, and develop and implement strategies to achieve financial objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including business and project staff, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in financial analysis and advisory roles, with a strong understanding of financial management principles, financial analysis techniques, and commercial trends.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, Treasurer's Instructions, Forward Estimates processes, and contemporary accounting methods and procedures.
  • Proven high-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult and liaise collaboratively with business and project stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a high degree of attention to detail, analyze data to inform decision making, and identify and resolve complex business problems.
