About the Apprenticeship

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our exciting apprentice program at Transgrid, a leading player in the National Electricity Market.

As an apprentice with Transgrid, you will have the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure projects that will shape the future of the energy industry in Australia.

Our high voltage transmission network connects more than 3.5 million homes and businesses across New South Wales (NSW) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) to deliver safe and reliable electricity.

During your time as an apprentice, you will have access to a competitive starting salary package with 15.5% superannuation, work alongside bright and incredibly curious teams, and be supported by mentors, buddies, and managers.

  • You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of specialist areas, including structured technical capability development programs.
  • As you progress through your apprenticeship, you will have access to multiple career opportunities, inclusive of pathways to either Substation Technician roles or Secondary Systems Technician roles.
  • You will also have access to industry leading training and technical experience building, maintaining, and running diagnostic test and repairs on High Voltage equipment ranging up to 500kV on Transformers, Circuit Breakers, and other primary and secondary plant.

Requirements

  • Completed high school studies (minimum year 10 or equivalent) by the end of 2025
  • A genuine interest in a trade working within a high voltage electricity transmission network
  • A current driver's licence prior to starting the program or be willing to obtain one as soon as possible after appointment
  • Environmentally and socially responsible
  • A team player, motivated, and willing to learn
  • Able to think laterally and to provide input to innovative solutions to complex problems
