Opportunity to Lead and Mentor
We are seeking an experienced Administrative Team Leader to join our Strategic Priorities Unit in the Department of Education. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small team, develop positive working relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality public education.
About the Role
The Officer Manager will be responsible for leading a diverse range of administrative duties, including communication, media services, design of publications, correspondence, policy, administrative, HR and finance services. The successful candidate will have experience in leading a small team, ideally with an HR and administration background, and possess high-level organisational and time management skills.
About the Department of Education
The Department of Education is the largest provider of public education in Australia, with nearly 100,000 employees across NSW in our schools and corporate offices. Our purpose is centred on the delivery of high-quality public education to two-thirds of the NSW student population.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a small team of administrators, providing guidance and support to ensure timely and quality delivery of work.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, including staff, students, and external partners.
- Provide administrative support to the Schools Policy & Evidence directorate, including communication, media services, design of publications, correspondence, policy, administrative, HR and finance services.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and government requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and databases, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and regulations.

Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Experience in leading a small team, ideally with an HR and administration background.
- High-level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads, work well under pressure, and organise own work and others to meet competing deadlines.
- A professional work ethic and the ability to strive for continuous improvement.
