Our Organisation

Kurbingui is an Aboriginal community-based not-for-profit organisation that provides services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

We deliver various community services, including employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence prevention, alcohol and substance abuse programs, cultural education and engagement programs, education support for families and children, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women's and men's programs, and health and nutrition.

The Role

The Support Worker will provide exceptional service to clients while supporting our goals. Key responsibilities include:

- Providing appropriate levels of support to maintain and improve client independence, including parenting support, community participation, transportation, and other needs.

- Responding to client needs and collaborating with their families, support networks, and others in their lives.

- Keeping accurate records of activities via progress notes.

- Working within our policies and procedures.

Key Selection Criteria

- Identifying as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.

- Understanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, and the issues impacting them in contemporary society.

- Previous experience as a support worker.

- Excellent communication skills, reporting skills, and a compassionate approach to work.

- Flexibility and availability are essential, with the ability to work varied shifts, including morning, day, afternoon, evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

- Demonstrated experience and skills in conducting safety and risk assessments.
