About the Opportunity

This is a unique chance to be part of an exciting research team focused on understanding neurodegeneration and axon regeneration. The successful candidate will join a dynamic group working towards developing life-changing treatments for optic nerve diseases.

The role involves conducting original research in NAD biology and axon degeneration, with a focus on drug discovery and optic nerve diseases. You will lead projects independently and as part of a team, collaborate with teams across the research institution, and contribute to its mission.

You will also disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. Additionally, you will provide informal mentoring and guidance to junior team members, including undergraduate and PhD students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct original research in NAD biology and axon degeneration, with a focus on drug discovery and optic nerve diseases
  • Lead projects independently and as part of a team
  • Collaborate with teams across the research institution and actively contribute to its mission
  • Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • Provide informal mentoring and guidance to junior team members
Requirements
  • PhD in Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, Vision Sciences, or a related field
  • Experience working with iPSC-derived neuronal cultures and primary neurons
  • Experience with mouse models of neurodegeneration
  • Expertise in axon degeneration and NAD biology
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Proven record of producing original, high-quality research
