Project Officer Role Overview

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a dynamic team in the North Queensland Region Corridor Management department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist technical knowledge to third-party providers, ensuring effective project delivery and corridor management operations.
  • Support the protection of Departmental infrastructure interests and maintain road safety through relevant legislation compliance.
  • Offer technical advice, guidance, and coordination on delivering Corridor Management activities in the Far North District.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, manage Departmental property, leases, and road licenses, and assess impacts associated with tenure changes.
  • Conduct land title searches and provide information relating to land tenure, easements, and encumbrances.

Accountabilities:

  1. Manage maintenance programs for vacant TMR land in the Far North District.
  2. Coordinate road declarations as required.
  3. Land acquisitions: coordinate district-level land acquisitions and provide advice and guidance for acquiring land to accommodate Far North District projects via hardship, resumption, or agreement negotiations with project managers, landholders, and their legal representatives.
  4. Liaise with the Department's Property Acquisitions and Disposals teams to manage Departmental property, leases, and road licenses.
  5. Tenure dealings: liaise with internal and external stakeholders to assess impacts and risks associated with proposed tenure changes affecting state-controlled roads and their operation.
  6. Assist corridor management staff with conducting land title searches and providing information on land tenure, easements, and encumbrances.
  7. Assess applications for stakeholders seeking access to transport corridors managed by TMR using principles for approving third-party uses, managing potential conflicts, and risk assessment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current holder of a Class C driver's license.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Pre-employment check of serious discipline history as a condition of employment.
