Clinical Coding Specialist

About the Role

This full-time position is based at North Shore Private Hospital, where you will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. As a Clinical Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate codes, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assign accurate codes using current coding standards and guidelines
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to resolve coding issues
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Clinical Coding qualifications from Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) or equivalent
  • Experience in abstracting and coding across a wide casemix
  • Sound and updated knowledge of ICD-10-AM 13th edition, National and local coding standards
  • Sound and updated knowledge of Medical Science and Medical Terminology
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and patient management systems
  • Good analytical and abstracting skills
