Coffee Procurement Specialist

As a key member of our procurement team, we are seeking a highly skilled Coffee Specialist to take on the role of Retail Buyer.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing high-quality green coffee and retail products in line with market trends and customer demand. This includes monitoring sales data and inventory levels, negotiating purchase agreements with suppliers, and selecting and procuring green coffee lots through importers or direct trade relationships.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Analyzing sales data to inform purchasing decisions and ensure optimal stock levels.
  2. Staying up-to-date with changing consumer preferences by studying trade publications, supplier offerings, and market trends.
  3. Negotiating purchase agreements and supply terms with suppliers of green coffee and retail products.
  4. Anticipating seasonal demand and determining suitable quantity, style, and quality of products to meet business objectives.
  5. Selecting and procuring green coffee lots through importers or direct trade relationships, ensuring high quality and ethical sourcing.
  6. Evaluating samples received from suppliers for suitability and pricing.
  7. Designing and implementing pricing strategies and promotional initiatives in collaboration with marketing.
  8. Liaising with senior management on long-term planning, retail expansion, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Key Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in purchasing and retail merchandising, preferably within the specialty coffee or FMCG industries.
  • Strong knowledge of specialty coffee sourcing practices, cupping, and product evaluation.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret sales reports and translate them into actionable buying strategies.
  • Superior negotiation, planning, and supplier relationship management abilities.
  • Awareness of ethical sourcing standards and a genuine interest in coffee quality and consumer trends.
