About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Assistant to join our hospitality team at Newcastle Private Hospital. In this dynamic role, you will have the opportunity to develop your customer service skills and contribute to providing exceptional patient care.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in daily food preparation, delivering, serving, and collecting patient meal trays. You will also assist with general cleaning duties, including dish and pot washing, and operate within WHS policies and procedures.

You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to promote a professional and positive culture, while providing high standards of customer service to staff, clients, and patients. If you are passionate about delivering excellent patient care and possess strong communication and customer service skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in daily food preparation and basic meal assembly
  • Deliver, serve, and collect all patient food requirements and meal trays
  • Assist in general cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils, including dish and pot washing as required
  • Act as a valued member of an interdisciplinary team by promoting a professional and positive team culture
  • Provide high standard of customer service
  • Operate in line with WHS policy & procedures
Requirements
  • Autority to Work in Australia
  • Working with Children check
  • 2 years' experience in a similar role within a Hospital or Aged care environment
  • Completed Basic Food Handling Training (or working towards)
  • Certificate III in Hospitality (or working towards)
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Commitment to service excellence
  • Strong communication and customer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Work well independently and within a team
  • Available for a variety of shifts & on call shifts
