About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Peer Worker to join our team at Monash Health. As a Peer Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals who are struggling with addiction and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one peer support to consumers in the Needle Syringe Program, using your lived experience to inspire hope and belief in recovery.
  • Engage and develop trusting relationships with consumers, providing basic psychoeducation and support to help them navigate the AOD system.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the peer workforce, providing feedback and suggestions for service improvement.
  • Collaborate with other service staff to ensure the Outreach vehicle is safe and adequately stocked with all required supplies.
  • Support and assist clients to understand and navigate health and other community services within Monash Health and externally.
Requirements
  • Lived experience of problematic substance use and mental illness.
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to the field (e.g. alcohol and other drugs, community development, social work).
  • Completion of Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training or willingness to complete.
  • Working With Children Check and Police check.
  • Current Victorian Driver's License.
